Stagnant English at home

It has been five years since my eldest son started DWE before he was two years old, but he still lacks spontaneous output and is still far from being able to speak freely about what he wants to say.

My eldest daughter started during her pregnancy, and although she was able to produce short sentences, I wasn't sure what to do next and was unsure how to proceed with DWE, so I decided to enroll her in Besty.

The first thing I was worried about was how to stream and link DWE.

Although the water supply had been running for five years, there had been little effort put into it.The flowing water is an unconscious background, and there is no awareness of the connection. It was.

What has changed since joining Besty?

I received advice on how to run the bath throughout the day and how to recreate the experience.

I decided which colors to strengthen each month, and also decided which DVDs to play on a weekly and daily basis, and I also started playing them in the bath.

In order to prevent this from becoming an unconscious background, we picked out phrases that we wanted them to learn and called them out, and we also played together recreating various situations such as fishing and picnics, helping them acquire the necessary expressive skills.

This has allowed us to strengthen the input of the phrases we want them to use, and we have begun to see them naturally outputting the structures we want them to use, such as can, be going to, with, and should. As we have continued to play reenactments, we have begun to see siblings playing together in English.

Regarding awareness of linkage, we learned that by making full use of supplementary teaching materials that had not been used much until now, such as TAC and BOOK reading for the DVD scene watched that day, and related FWW, and working on them while gaining awareness, we can strengthen our input.

After seeing a little output, I was advised to focus on strengthening my output through conversation, and my eldest son did FWW and TAC repeats, TAC composition, and show & tell. Up until now, he had only said a few short sentences in TAC composition, but now he can connect sentences using words like and, so, then, but to make up his own stories, and he was able to speak smoothly instead of thinking about the sentences he was speaking, so I could clearly see that he was becoming more accustomed to speaking.

My oldest son's biggest concern was his lack of motivation to speak English.

Although he was able to start producing output little by little in his daily life by continuing to practice speaking and playing reenactments, I was frustrated when he would only say yes and no when we had online English lessons and would not speak at all.

I was aware that I had started online English conversation before I was at a level where I could do it, but when I discussed with my teacher that I wanted to continue using it as a way to improve my English as an elementary school student, I was advised to continue using show and tell online, so I decided to give it a try.

I was getting discouraged because I couldn't put sentences together properly, but when I tried playing Minecraft, which he likes, online English, I was surprised to see him start talking bit by bit, as if it was a lie that he had hardly spoken at all up until then. When I saw him introduce the buildings and towns he had built,Experience the benefits of combining your favorite things with EnglishI did.

My daughter was receiving input in her native language and was showing natural output, so we continued with the regular use and efforts, and received advice on introducing YouTube and pretend play.

As a result, when playing alone with dolls or playing house, he started speaking almost entirely in English.

When I consulted them about the fact that the content of show & tell tends to go off track easily and doesn't allow for improvement, they advised me to explain it while crafting, and that if I used the front camera, they would start to imitate the video as they spoke. They also advised me that if I tried to film the show & tell after crafting with the front camera, they would be more enthusiastic about the explanation and explain things in a logical order, using first, then, etc.

If left alone, he will continue talking by himself for about 10 minutes. Now, my daughter asks me questions in English during our everyday conversations, and she speaks without me having to turn on my English switch.

Since the children started attending Besty, they have grown so much that I wonder what the past five years have been like.

What's good about joining Besty?

There are three reasons why I'm glad I joined Besty.

FirstWhen you're working alone, it's easy to get lost and feel anxious about English at home, but receiving advice based on a theory makes it easier for you to understand, reduces anxiety while you're working, and encourages you to continue.

SecondThe biggest benefit was learning how to change your mindset. I used to get frustrated and depressed because I would always focus on how my child was doing, but by setting my own goals, reflecting on them, and creating a process of improvement, I learned that I could just think about what I should do without being influenced by how my child was doing, and I think that lightened the burden on my mind.

ThirdHaving friends who have the same goals and worries as you. By attending regular meetings and tea parties and listening to the stories of friends who have the same worries as you, you feel like you're not alone and your motivation increases.

I will continue to clarify what I need to do and work hard to help my children become bilingual.
