DWE begins at age 6 months.
For the past five years, I've been doing small things like running my own bath, participating in events, and obtaining CAP certification, but I haven't had any notable results.
When asked in English, he can answer at a word level, but he doesn't speak spontaneously.
Even when parents speak to them in English, they are told, "Stop speaking English!"
I don't want to waste these precious study materials, but my child will be in elementary school in just one year, and I don't know what to do.
Taking bilingual courses
In that situation, I decided to take the Besty Bilingual Course as a last resort.
In the bilingual course, you will receive detailed instruction on how to spend your time each day, what to do during the input and output periods, how to avoid missing each period, and how to acquire a language in the first place using your native language.
So, all we parents have to do is do it!
However, it is difficult for us busy people to implement...
I don't know where to start... I have endless worries, but being able to talk directly to the Besty instructors gives me a sense of security, and hearing about the latest developments of my fellow Besty students helps me maintain my motivation, thinking, "Oh, I should do this too! I'm not doing it at all, so I'll try harder!"
After taking the bilingual course, the first thing I did was to review the amount of time I spent using the water.
Looking back,Recently, I realized that I have been running DWE for about 1.5 hours a day.
I reviewed my daily life and aimed to secure at least three hours of free-flowing SP bathing..
Next, we reviewed how we approach TAC every day, organizing TAC by situation (such as grouping together things related to picnics), going through each card at least three times, listening to various sentences, and answering questions.
I'm ashamed to say that it was at this point that I opened the guidebook for the first time since purchasing DWE, and discovered that TAC has 2-3 sentences registered per page.
When I went to bed at night, I turned off the lights, played Bedtime Review, closed my eyes and tried to imagine.
I had been continuing my online English lessons bit by bit, but I decided to cancel them in order to increase my child's input time. I also carefully selected only the really easy English picture books I had saved up and put the rest away for the time being.
As a result, they started paying more attention to the SP, which had previously only been in the background, and began to play not only the TAC but also the QA cards themselves.
Results after reviewing inputs
After reviewing the input, after 2-3 months, he started to respond properly in English instead of saying "Stop it when I talk to him in English!"
Since the "Stop speaking English" thing was gone, I started speaking to him in English whenever I could, and even when he didn't speak to me, I continued to broadcast my actions in English (lol).
Also,When we had time, we incorporated re-enacting scenes from DWE, such as the picnic, Donald fishing, everyone playing in the pond, and pretending to shop at the circus, all of which we enjoyed with the children.
Perhaps through reenactment play, he has become accustomed to English, and now he speaks to me in English on his own, even when his parents don't speak to him in English in everyday life.
I thought, "Maybe this is the output stage!" and my daughter seemed to be getting a little bored with DWE, soI tried showing my daughter one Netflix anime per day, which was a hot topic at the Bestie Tea Party, and it seemed to be a perfect fit for her. From then on, she started speaking more and more in English.I think so.
Now, most of our house play is in English.
What's good about joining Besty?
Even after taking the bilingual course, I often had worries, such as, "Is this really the right thing to do?", "Am I approaching it the wrong way?", and "Time is just passing by and I'm not accomplishing anything."I worry about all sorts of thingsIt becomes like this.
But,At times like that, I look back at the archives of the courses, listen to the concerns of the other Besties, hear about their current efforts, and listen to the advice of the instructors, and then apply it to myself, thinking things like, "My approach was right!", "I'll take a closer look," or "I'll try to do it like this person!", which helps me maintain my motivation. We are working with this in mind.
Also, if I have any worries or concerns I can immediately share them directly with the instructors and other Besty members, which is very reassuring. Even if I'm not the one sharing anything, I can empathize with what others have to say and it motivates me to try harder, so I'm really glad I joined Besty.
I still have many challenges ahead of me, and every day I ask myself, "What should I do tomorrow?" and "Is this okay?", and it's a cycle of trial and error. We're all struggling and trying our bestI think that's why I'd like to continue relying on Besty and aim to become bilingual!
